DETAILS: 2007 Competitive Edge Workshop #4 - International Marketing: Taking your business beyond our borders

The International Marketing Workshop will introduce the basic concepts of Global Marketing by integrating concepts and terminology into a simple, analytical, decision-making framework.

Learning Objectives:

  • The process of planning and conducting transactions across national borders.
  • How small business can be impacted, AND have an impact!
  • Global linkages bind countries, institutions, and individuals more closely than ever.
  • World trade opens up entirely new business horizons.
  • Meeting international challenges - Be prepared and develop active responses.
    - Develop new strategies.
    - Adaptation to the new environment and markets.
  • Reasons for providing a focus by small business on International Marketing:
    - National need to earn foreign currency.
    - Encouragement of domestic employment.
    - Increase in domestic economic activity

    Instructor:
    The Workshop will be lead by Pat Patton who has a dynamic style when teaching International Marketing, Marketing, Advertising and Sales. His extensive knowledge of current international business practices comes from years of consulting in the United Kingdom, Europe, Mexico and Brazil with both large and small companies competing in today's global economy. Mr. Patton has also facilitated workshops for local chambers, businesses, and our local workforce board. Pat has been a faculty of the Marketing Department Austin Community College District for 32 years. He received his BBA from the University of Texas, Masters in International Marketing THE UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH, London, England, and is currently writing his dissertation on "Global E-Commerce" for the Ph.D. Program at THE UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH, London, England.
